  • Financial Services Initiatives Forum: Regulatory Initiatives Grid

    The FS Initiatives Forum was originally comprised of BoE, PRA, FCA, PSR and CMA. The Pensions Regulator and ICO have... now joined the Forum. The first edition of the Grid was published in May and has now been updated. It is noted that there are a number of “paused” initiatives which Forum members are still considering how to resume. Timings across many initiatives remain tentative and all initiatives are under continuous close-review in light of current circumstances. Highlighted areas include Brexit related initiatives, the future regulatory framework for financial services; Basel II; LIBOR, increased margining of OTC derivative contracts, achieving resolvability; payments; fintech; ring fencng; central bank digital currencies and strengthening operational resilience across a number of sectors.

  • ESMA: Short selling

    ESMA has renewed its Decision to temporarily require the holders of net short positions in shares traded on an EU regulated... market to notify the relevant national competent authority if the position reaches or exceeds 0.1% of the issued share capital. The measure applies from 18 September 2020 and expires on 18 December 2020. ESMA notes that the EFTA Surveillance Authority has adopted a corresponding decision today, also effective as at 18 September, applicable to EEA EFTA States' markets.
