CSDR is part of a suite of wider EU regulatory reforms intending to improve the operation and the stability of the financial markets. CSDR aims to improve the safety and efficiency of securities settlement, establish an enhanced level playing field between central securities depositories (“CSDs”) and remove barriers to access through the introduction of an EU-wide passporting regime for CSDs.
CSDR impacts a wide range of market participants and brings within its scope a multitude of financial instruments; the world of settlement users and operators need to be ready.
