We are pleased to announce our latest General Counsel Report “Creating Connections, Bridging Gaps”, developed with the support of the European Company Lawyer’s Association (ECLA).

CMS have been working in partnership with influential GCs for over a decade to produce a series of innovative publications to empower them in their roles and increase the value they bring to their business. Our latest report draws together our previous research and the surveys that have been conducted with hundreds of GCs since the series began.

Based around 101 key questions focused on the nature of the GC role, influence within the business, how others perceive them, and how to manage risk; our latest report contains interviews with 18 leading European GCs, who share their own insights and suggestions for best practice.

The report is intended to provoke self-reflection, and to be used as tool for GCs to further their personal career development. To support that, the report offers practical models to help GCs become better leaders. Complementing our existing “GC Value Pyramid”, many of our readers will be familiar with, this report introduces the “GC Bridge Model” – a new tool designed to build influence and strategies to succeed.

General counsel and their in-house legal teams have been on a roller-coaster ride during 2020. Although our report was prepared prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is perhaps more relevant than ever, when businesses will again be looking to their GCs to help navigate these challenging times.
