Call for evidence on new Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Bill: act quickly!

England and Wales

The Government has launched a call for evidence on the new Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Bill. The Bill (together with the accompanying new Code of Practice) provides for a new arbitration scheme to deal with rent arrears for businesses which were forced to close during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the Bill must act quickly and send in their views as soon as possible. The Public Bill Committee will look at the Bill on 7 December 2021 and the Committee is scheduled to report by 16 December. Once the Committee has concluded its consideration of the Bill, it cannot then receive any written evidence and the Committee could conclude earlier than the expected deadline of 5.00pm on Thursday 16 December.
