Judicial Digitization: State Judicial Administration of Ukraine introduces eCourt

Ukraine

On 28 September2021 the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine presented a new mobile application called eCourt, which takes the next step towards digitizing the Ukrainian judiciary.

ECourt became necessary for many reasons including the COVID-19 pandemic and the armed aggression in Ukraine, as well as the general need to provide convenient access to the judicial system.

To register in the application, the user needs to be registered in the general judicial online system: Electronic Court. The application will allow the user to:

  • receive push notifications about the receipt of new documents in the electronic cabinet of the user and changes in the status of cases the user is participating in;
  • review cases, proceedings, procedural documents sent by the court to the electronic cabinet;
  • view applications, petitions and other documents created by the user in his/her electronic cabinet; and
  • view powers of attorney and orders in the user’s Cabinet.

The eCourt application is available for download at GooglePlay and AppStore.

The eCourt initiative logically follows the recently adopted innovations aimed at digitalizing Ukrainian judicial system. As we reported in September, Ukraine’s High Council of Justice announced the launch of three subsystems of the Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System that will allow for electronic file management, remote communication between the court and litigants, videoconferencing participation in court hearings, provision of informational assistance to judges, and automation of court processes.
