On May 13, the Romanian Energy Authority (ANRE) approved a gas release programme that is applicable to gas productions over 3 MM MW.
Under the new regulation, the main domestic producers ROMGAZ and OMV Petrom will offer 30% of their production over centralised markets (i.e. Romanian Stock Exchange, Romanian Gas and Electricty Market Operator) through standardised forward products.
This obligation is expected to lead to increased gas market liquidity and the formation of correct reference prices. At the same time, it is expected to ensure the conditions for commercial balancing of market participants, and to increase market predictability and access to all market participants (including small suppliers and end clients) of domestic gas.
