Final feasibility study for Balkan gas hub scheduled for February 28th

Bulgaria

On 28 February 2019, the final results of the Feasibility Study for the Balkan Gas Hub will be presented at a ‘round table’ event organised by Bulgartransgaz EAD in Sofia.

The following topics will be presented at this event:

• Final results of the feasibility study and the “Open Season” procedure;

• The establishment of “Gas Hub Balkan” EAD;

• The participation of Bulgartransgaz EAD in the development of the LNG terminal in Aleksandroupolis, Greece; and

• The gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece.

The event will also have a panel, discussing the opportunities for share participation in the regional natural gas exchange market (i.e. Gas Hub Balkan), and for obtaining financing for the construction of the physical infrastructure of the Balkan gas distribution centre.

Although the final feasibility study was supposed to be presented in September last year, the upcoming event is in line with recent changes to Bulgaria's Energy Strategy up to 2020 and this strategy's impact.
