European Commission public consultation on EU funds for strategic infrastructure

Europe

This year, the European Commission must present proposals for the financial programmes for the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework. These programmes/funds provide financial support to hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries such as regions, cities, NGOs, businesses, farmers, students and researchers. The Commission's proposals are to focus on areas where it can achieve more than Member States acting alone. This requires a careful assessment both of past successful projects and suggestions for improvements.

In this context, the European Commission recently launched a public consultation on EU funds for strategic infrastructure. All stakeholders (such as public entities, associations, regions, citizens and beneficiaries) are invited to submit their views via an online questionnaire. The questionnaire focuses on EU policies, their priorities, their objectives and obstacles, whether these priorities could be achieved better at EU, national or regional/local level and the administrative burdens. It offers text boxes for participants to provide further useful information for the Commission.

The consultation deadline is 8 March 2018.

The consultation is part of a coordinated public consultation round on current performance and future challenges in a wide range of policy areas covering existing EU financial programmes and future EU funding in the areas of policy cohesion, investment, research & innovation, SMEs and the single market, migration, security, strategic infrastructure, values and mobility.

The Commission will consider the stakeholders’ views expressed in these consultations in developing the next Multiannual Financial Framework.

This is your opportunity to be heard!
