In this video, Partner Rob Stephen and Director of Patent Prosecution Kevin Cordina look at the proposals that would see the European Union adopt a unitary patent (UP) system and a unified patent court (UPC). With substantial changes on the horizon, the transitional provisions to move from the current scenario to the UP and UPC are extensive. Kevin and Rob assess the concerns already expressed in relation to the proposals as well as the positives the new system is likely to bring.
