International law firm Olswang is sponsoring the M2M and the Internet of Things event, as part of the Digital Services World Congress in London.

On 18 and 19 June, Partners Blanca Escribano and Purvi Parekh, co-heads of Olswang's international Telecoms practice, will be speaking at the event and will share their in-depth knowledge of the telecoms and technology sectors, as well as highlight the importance of IP and data protection in this burgeoning market.

The world's cellular M2M connections doubled over the past two and a half years, making M2M the new benchmark for success for wireless carriers, as well as a topic of concern for national regulators. The event will be an opportunity for all stakeholders in the value chain to understand the key issues at stake, from a business, technical and legal point of view.

This two-day event will tackle insurance telematics, smart metering, mHealth, connected vehicles, supply chain and fleet management, and will investigate what exactly operators and their partners should be doing to leverage telcos' core capabilities to monetise services beyond their network.

Olswang advises international clients that are both providers and users of telecoms services, with cross-border experience extending across all types of network and platform - fixed, mobile, satellite, VPN, NGN, terrestrial broadcasting, cable TV and the internet.

Blanca Escribano, Partner at Olswang, explains: "The M2M market is now at a point where legal advice is crucial to the success of the businesses involved. Only win/win agreements between telecom operators and different vertical M2M users will achieve the growth that everyone expects from this market. There are many legal challenges that businesses should consider when devising their market strategies. Olswang's expertise in commercial, regulatory, corporate, finance, competition, intellectual property, dispute resolution, real estate and tax for the telecoms sector means that we understand the challenges and opportunities ahead and provide the best approach to our clients."

The event will be held at the Thistle Marble Arch, Bryanston St, London, W1H 7EH. To find out more and register for M2M & Internet of Things 2013, please see http://m2minternetofthings.com.
