Czech Republic: anti-piracy laws

Czech Republic

From 1 June 2005, anti-piracy laws have come into force protecting providers of encrypted satellite or cable TV and radio signals and internet services against the use of decoders and other equipment to gain unauthorised access to broadcasts.

The law implements the EU directive on conditional access by generally banning the manufacture, trade, possession, promotion and use of illicit decoders and by giving broadcasters a remedy through the courts for damages, preventative action and/or the disposal of the illicit equipment.
