Parliament votes in favour of reform of EC competition rules

On 18 January, the European Parliament adopted a Resolution of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament broadly endorsing Commission plans as set out in the April 1999 White Paper on reform of EU Competition Policy rules. The Parliament insisted the Commission must take action to ensure the reform will not lead to abuses of dominant position in fields subject to liberalisation and privatisation.
