UK: Water industry - competition

United Kingdom

The Director General of Water Services has begun consultation on whether to allow Hartlepool Water to supply water to several sites outside its current area who are currently supplied by Northumbrian Water. If successful, this would be the sixth inset appointment to be granted and would be the first to benefit residential customers and new households as well as businesses. Customers would be charged the same tariffs as Hartlepool Water’s existing customers, which are currently lower than Northumbrian Water’s tariff.
