Welsh Water connected an old supply line to the mains and as a result dirty water was released into the system and supplied to 13,500 people. Welsh Water failed to warn residents and took thirty hours to clean the system. The Court found them guilty of four counts of supplying water unfit for human consumption and fined Welsh Water £3,500 for each offence.(ENDS Report 279, p49)
