SFA: Individual registration update

United Kingdom

In SFA Briefing 17, the SFA warned that it has received an increasing number of complaints from firms who have suffered when leaving staff have removed important information. Registered individuals are reminded that client lists and files are generally the property of the firm and not the individual, and that firms should make provisions to advise employees who are leaving as to which property they should leave behind. The SFA has reminded individuals that if they deliberately remove or copy confidential information in defiance of clear procedures, they will have difficulty convincing the individual registration panel of their fitness and propriety for fresh registration.
