Welcome to our latest edition of The Antidote.

The industry environment remains a challenging one for both life sciences and healthcare companies. Both are faced with high regulatory and compliance hurdles to overcome in both the domestic market and internationally. As our clients find themselves faced with new regulations and laws which are impacting on their business and the sector, we have focused this issue on a few of these new regulations.

We review the new ABHI Code and discuss what ABHI members ned to do to ensure compliance with the relevant anti-bribery requirements. Our Asia team look at the PRC Cybersecurity Law which took effect on 1 June 2017. The two main focuses are on connected medical devices and the new concept of ‘critical information infrastructure’ used by medical institutions. Finally, we look at new government powers for controlling the prices of products supplied to the NHS with The Health Service Medical Supplies (Costs) Act 2017.
