The deadline for submitting applications for new operating licences to the Gambling Commission in order to obtain continuation rights was 27 April. Operators who failed to apply for a new licence by that date will not be guaranteed the ability to continue providing their services in the event that the Commission is unable to process a subsequent application by the time the current legislation is repealed on 1 September 2007. In such circumstances, operators would be unable to carry on business lawfully between 1 September 2007 and the issue of a new licence. The next significant deadline is 31 July 2007, by which time applications for premises licences must be made to the relevant local authority.
